Earlier this week, an attempt for lighthearted humor quickly turned sour when Bill Cosby’s Facebook page posted a link to a meme generator, saying “go ahead, meme me!”  I don’t know about you, but if I were facing public scrutiny for multiple decades of rape allegations, this is likely not the route I’d go for lighthearted entertainment.Cosbymeme

Lucky for Cosby, submissions to the Facebook page had to be approved before publishing, and his team quickly realized what was happening and removed the post from the page.  In typical Internet fashion, however, the issue didn’t end here.  Many took the idea so generously offered up by Cosby himself (or a team of highly paid professionals working in his likeness), and ran with it.  They ran right to other sites, and before anyone realized what was happening, #cosbymeme was born.

In other news, word on the street is Cosby is looking for a new social media team.  Qualified professionals are advised to stay far, far away from this one.
